ABIANS BENEFIT SO FAR FROM GEJ'S ADMINISTRATION


Since taking office, President Goodluck Jonathan has followed through on the ambitious plans laid out in his Transformation Agenda, delivering significant achievements across all states of the nation.
Below are some of his many achievements in Abia State:

Agriculture:

- Improved tenera oil palm nuts to oil palm estate for greater productivity.
- Rehabilitated oil palm plantation, to improve the production of palm oil, which has created jobs to reduce unemployment in the state.
- Ended four decades of corruption in the fertilizer sector. Implemented the e – wallet system for the distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers.
- Implemented Dry Season farming projects.

Health:

- Established the SURE-P Project on Primary Health Care.

Power:

-  504MW simple cycle power plant to be converted to 1074MW combined cycle power plant.

Transport:

- Commenced rehabilitation of the Eastern railway corridor, which is ongoing.
-  Established the Inland Container Depot in Isialangwa.

Water:

-  Established a borehole scheme at Amangwu Ohiafia ,which has ensured portable water for the area.
-  Established a water quality laboratory & monitoring network to ensure provision of safe water, thereby reducing cases of water borne infections.

Roads:

- Completed general maintenance and repairs of the Umuahia – Bende road.
- Re-constructed the Aba – Owerri roadm which has given travelers on the route an improved travel experience.
- Commenced rehabilitation of the Enugu – Port Harcourt dual carriageway (PH Bound) road, which is due to be completed soon.
- Rehabilitated the Federal Roads: Mbaise – Ngwa Road with a bridge and Owerri – Aba Road.

Youth Empowerment:

- Launched YouWIN grants, which have been awarded to youths in the state.
- Launched the SURE-P youth empowerment scheme.
